What is phone number portability?
The name says it all: phone number portability consists in transferring your number from one provider to another. In other words, you can change providers without changing your number!
This applies to wireline and wireless numbers. You can even transfer your number from a landline to a wireless phone, and vice versa.

Can I transfer a number from one region to another?
It is not possible to transfer a number from one region to another. The area code must be the same: for example, a 514 number (Montréal) to a 418 number (Québec).
Will I need a new handset and package?
You will need to choose a new handset and a new package with Vidéotron. We can help you find the handset and package that are right for you.
I currently use the prepaid service. Can I transfer my number to Vidéotron?
It is possible to transfer a wireless number linked to a prepaid service; however there are two restrictions. First, the number must be active. After the number has been inactive for a certain period of time, it is deactivated. Each provider established its own policy about this time period. In other words, your number must be active during the transfer. Second, the transfer of a number related to a prepaid service does not include the transfer of your prepaid minutes or any other service linked to your current provider.
