Q When do I let Videotron know that I’m moving?
R The earlier the better. The minimum recommendation is 1 week before the date. We can plan your move up to 45 days in advance, which lets you have more control over what day the technician comes and your timeslot that day.
Q How much will my move cost?
R The regular price for installation at your new address is $59.95, which includes five installations (additional wall outlet, phone jack, etc.) Any work that exceeds the allotted installations costs $19.95. Certain offers are available for multiproduct customers, or customers who are adding services when they move. You have nothing to pay up front—you’ll be billed on your Videotron invoice.
Q Do I need to be at my new residence for the installation?
R You must be present when our technician arrives to install your services. If you can’t be there, you can ask someone close to you to be there in your stead, as long as that person is 18 years of age or older.
Q What equipment should I have on hand for the installation?
R So that our technician can quickly and efficiently install your services, please have the following equipment on hand (depending on what services you have): TV, illico terminal, computer, modem/multifunction modem, Wi-Fi router and your home telephone. Don’t forget all the wiring for your equipment (electrical and cable wiring, Ethernet cable, HDMI cable, etc.).
Q My modem is attached to the wall. How do I remove it?
R You’re going to need a strong pair of wire clippers. After unplugging your multifunction modem, cut the coaxial cable about 4 inches away from the bolt to free the modem. That way, you can take it with you to your new residence, where the technician will reinstall it. If you’re hesitant to do it yourself, we can send you a technician who will do it for you—at no cost to you. Nonetheless, you’re responsible for physically bringing your modem to your new address.
Q There’s no cable in the room I want to install in. Can the technician still do it and how much will it cost?
R Yes, the technician will be able to install the wall outlet, but the wiring will be surface-level only (no work will be done inside the walls of your home). He or she will be able to explain the different options available to you based on how your home is set up and its cable entries. As for the price tag—there are no additional fees as long as you stay within the five allotted installations. Beyond that, it will cost you $19.95 per outlet/additional installation.
