Emergency service (9-1-1)

Dial 9-1-1 to reach emergency services (fire, police, ambulance) offered in your municipality. Videotron telephone service fully supports 9-1-1 emergency services by providing the name, address and telephone number registered in your file.

Touch-Tone

Cable Telephony works with Touch-Tone or pulse phone.

Directory listing

Each Videotron residential telephone line includes a free basic listing in your directory's White Pages and online.

Call blocking (*67)

Call-blocking service prevents the person you are calling from seeing your name and telephone number displayed on their telephone screen.

Relay service for the hearing - or speech- impared

The relay service is adapted to meet the special needs of people with hearing problems who use a telecommunication device for the deaf, a TTY/teletypewriter, or other types of specialized devices to place or receive calls.

Non-hearing impaired people who wish to reach hearing-impaired people via the relay service may do so by dialing 1-800-855-0511.

Technical support and repair service (6-1-1)

Our technical support and repair service is available 24/7.

Billable services

Call Display

Call Display allows you to see the name and telephone number of the person who is trying to reach you before you answer the call.

Note: The Call Display service requires a telephone with a display screen.

illico Caller ID

This feature lets you use your TV screen as an interface, to find out who's calling. Channel 902 gives you access to a log of the last 15 calls.

Your subscription must include cable telephone service, the caller ID option and illico Digital TV; a compatible digital terminal is required. Option not available with the Softphone. The display on your television may differ from that on your telephone.

Voice Mail

This service gives callers the possibility of leaving a message if you are on the phone or unable to answer. You can also:

  • Personalize your greeting
  • Check your messages from anywhere
  • Adjust the delay of the answering service
  • Receive your voice messages by e-mail (optional)
Voice Messages by E-mail

When you receive a voice message, this service immediately forwards it as an attachment (.wav file) to the e-mail address of your choice.

To join this service, a subscription to Vidéotron Voice Mail service and cable Internet is required.

Call Waiting

The Call Waiting service prevents you from missing a call. While you are on the line, a brief tone alerts you to another incoming call.

By using two different tones, this service allows you to determine whether the waiting call is local or long distance.

Visual Call Waiting

The Visual Call Waiting service allows you to see the name and phone number of the waiting call on your telephone display screen while you are already on the line.

FREE on demand for subscribers of Call Display and Call Waiting.

Note: Your telephone must be compatible with this service.

Call Forwarding (*72)

This service automatically forwards your calls to any number, like your wireless handset, for example.

Note: If you forward your calls to a telephone number outside your local calling area, the usual long-distance charges will be billed if there is an answer at that number.

Three-Way Calling (*71)

Bring a third party into the conversation when you are already on the phone.

Busy Call Return (*66)

Busy Call Return service allows you to have a busy line monitored for 30 minutes. When the line becomes free, your telephone will ring in a distinctive way.

Last Call Return (*69)

This feature allows you to obtain and automatically redial the telephone number of the last person who called your number.

Call Trace (*57)

The Call Trace service allows authorities to trace threatening or harrassing calls, even if the caller has blocked its number.

You have to contact the police to have them trace the identity of the caller. For regulatory reasons, Videotron will not provide you with this information.

Note: Charges apply each time this service is used (whether or not you call the police).

Personalized ring

The personalized ring service makes it possible for you to add a number to your residential service and to have a distinct ring for each of your numbers. This is a practical way to distinguish among calls addressed to the various occupants of the house and the fax line.

Directory assistance (4-1-1)

The easy way to find a person's or business's phone number in Canada or abroad.

Out-of-plan long distance

Our long-distance fees apply when you make a call to a destination not included in your long-distance plan.

Videotron calling card

Call anywhere in the world from any phone in Canada or the US: long-distance fees are charged to your residential invoice.

Additional directory listing

This service adds the possibility of a second directory listing, in addition to the basic free listing (spouse, roommate, etc.) or a sub-registration under the main name (ex: fax, child's number, etc.).

Operator (0)

This service directs you to our operators to help you dial a number or for any other special services (collect calls, etc.).

Long-distance relay service for the hearing- or speech-impaired (7-1-1)

This service offers assistance to customers who wish to make long-distance calls using a telecommunication device for the deaf, a TTY/teletypewriter, or other types of specialized devices to place or receive calls.

Non-hearing impaired people who wish to reach hearing-impaired people via the relay service may do so by dialing 1-800-855-0511.

1-900 calls and other special services

Numbers beginning with 1-900 and other special telephone services are billed at the rate set by the provider of these services.

Maintenance plan

Your home telephone's wiring is your responsibility. It is subject to wear and tear, accidents and potential breakage; this is why Videotron offers the possibility to subscribe to its Inside Telephony Wiring Maintenance Plan. If something happens, Videotron will repair it for free.

Technical specifications

Multifunction cable modem

The cable telephony service is activated by a multifunction cable modem (Internet and/or telephone) linked to the same coaxial cable as your other Videotron services. The cable modem is installed permanently by our technician in a fixed place in your home.

Compatibility with your alarm system

Videotron cable telephony is recognized by the main Canadian home security companies, including ADT, Chubb and Protectron.

Compatibility with your modems and faxes

Videotron cable telephony is compatible with most modems and fax machines avaialble on the market.

Independent service

The cable telephony service does not affect other Videotron cable services. Your voice communications do not affect your Internet data transfer and vice-versa.

In case of disruption

The Videotron multifunction cable modem is equipped with a rechargeable battery that ensures your line keeps working during a power outage for a maximum of eight hours (depending on the use of your phone line and the condition of the network).

Note that your residential wireless phones require a power supply to work. It is safer to have at least one stationary phone in your home.

The maximum capacity of the multifunctional cable modem is:

  • Two distinct lines
  • A personalized ring per line
  • Two Softphones devices
