- Do I need to be subscribed to cable Internet service to subscribe to Videotron's cable telephone service?

No. Videotron's cable telephone service is independent from the Internet service.

Fill out a subscription request online. A Videotron customer service representative will contact you shortly.
Just one visit from a Videotron technician is needed to install your cable telephony service. Technicians are available at different times during the week, including weekends. It takes about a week to transfer an existing number to Videotron's network.
- Do I first need to cancel my account with my current telephone service provider?

Not if you are keeping the same phone number. Your phone number needs to remain active until the date on which your number is transferred to Videotron's network, otherwise it may be difficult to retrieve it.
However, if you are also transferring your Internet and/or television services to Videotron, you need to contact your provider to cancel these services.
- Is the service compatible with my home security system connected to a remote monitoring station?

Videotron's telephone service is compatible with all commercially available alarm systems. This is one of the checks the technician does before installing the equipment.
The following suppliers have officially recognized Videotron's technology:
- ADT CANADA
- Chubb
- Protectron
- I am currently with another long-distance provider. Will I continue to be with this company once my line has been transferred to Videotron's network?

When you transfer an existing phone number to Videotron's network, Videotron automatically becomes the long-distance provider for that number. Calls that begin with "1" are then routed by Videotron and will appear on your bill based on the long-distance plan you chose. Your former long-distance provider is automatically contacted by Videotron and must cancel your account, unless you contact them after your number has been transferred to Videotron and ask them to continue being your long-distance provider.
To find out which company is your current long-distance provider, call 1-700-555-4141.
Please note that the automatic transfer of your long-distance service to Videotron does not apply to long-distance service providers that use a local access number in your area (ex.: 514-877-5000) or an alternate routing code (101).
- I already have a high-speed DSL Internet service provider. Can I still subscribe to Videotron's cable telephone service?

Yes, it is possible. However, you must make sure to mention it when you place your subscription order for Videotron's cable telephone service.
Important: Since your home's inside telephone wiring is already being used by your high-speed DSL Internet service, your cable telephone service will not be connected to the telephone wires already installed in your home. For the service to be operational, you need to connect your telephone equipment directly to the multifunction cable modem that we will provide for you. You can ask the technician to install as many additional phone jacks as you wish. However, there will be a charge for each additional phone jack that is installed.
