- Why is the total of my first bill higher?
The amount of your first bill includes the charges for the current month as well as the fixed monthly charges for the next two months. The charges for the current month are calculated according to the number of days between the activation date of your wireless service and the billing date.
Fixed monthly charges subject to adjustments include:
- Charges on your monthly package
- Charges for your optional features
- 911 emergency fees
- Network access fees
- What are the 911 emergency service charges?
The 911 emergency service is jointly offered by municipal and telephone service operators. According to the regulations established by the Canadian radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), all fees for 911 emergency services must be collected from all telecommunication service users. They are notably billed to telephone service operators for each wireless number activated.
- What are network access fees?
Network access fees are charged by all network carriers to cover the costs associated to the upgrading of the wireless network. These fees are not required or collected by the federal government or any of its agencies.
- How does billing by the minute work?
Airtime charges are rounded up to the next minute. A minimum charge of one minute applies to all incoming and outgoing calls.
- Am I charged for calls I didn't answer?
There are no charges for calls received within your local calling area when your phone is busy or you do not answer. Roaming charges may apply.
- Am I charged for messages left in my voice mail?
No. You are only charged airtime when you retrieve your messages. Long-distance charges also apply if you check your messages while outside your local calling area.
- How is airtime charged when I am listening to my messages?
When you press and hold "1", your phone automatically dials your voice mail number. Airtime charges apply when you listen to your messages from within your local calling area. However, if you are travelling, the call becomes long distance and long-distance charges apply.
Some handsets display the voice mail number. This number may have a different area code than your number. If this is the case and you are within the local calling area, calls to your voice mail are not considered long distance.
- How are toll-free numbers (800, 877, etc.) charged?
Airtime charges are applicable. If you are travelling to the US or abroad, roaming charges are applicable.
- How are calls from one wireless phone to another charged?
Airtime charges apply to both correspondents.
- What usage fees apply to emergency calls (911)?
No usage fees apply to 911 emergency calls.
- What fees apply to directory assistance (411)?
Service and airtime charges apply to each call. Long-distance charges may apply to calls connected by directory assistance, when applicable.
- Can I make collect calls?
Although you cannot receive collect calls, you can make them. Airtime charges apply.
- Are there fees for blocking my phone number?
No, the service is free.
- What are the costs of call forwarding?
Call forwarding is billed according to use, unless you subscribed to the call forwarding (2,500 minutes) option. These minutes do not reduce the number of minutes included in your package. Long-distance charges apply to calls forwarded outside your local calling area.
- How are long-distance calls billed?
Airtime and long-distance charges by the minute are billed for all long-distance calls. Long distance refers to the calls made to numbers outside your local calling area, calls received outside your local calling area and calls forwarded outside your local calling area.
- How much does text messaging cost?
All incoming text messages are free with a maximum of 2,500 messages per month. Outgoing text messages are billed individually or according to the text messaging option you subscribe to, if any. Text messages sent abroad or when you are outside Canada are billed separately and include roaming. To learn more, consult our optional features section.
- How much does multimedia messaging cost?
Each multimedia message sent costs 50¢. Messages received are free. Data transmission fees apply to all messages sent and received within the US or abroad.
- How is wireless Internet access billed?
Wireless Internet access is billed according to the amount of data transferred rather than the connection time. This service is billed per use (5¢/kilobyte) or according to the wireless Internet option you subscribe to, if any.
