Text messaging (SMS)

Text messaging lets you exchange alphanumeric messages between wireless devices that offer this function, and does so on all Canadian networks, most U.S. networks, and anywhere else in the world with the required technology.

Texting is not only about chatting with friends. You can also enter contests, take part in radio or TV shows, and much, much more!

Individual messages are limited to 160 characters.

Yes. You will receive a notice once you switch your phone on or return to the local calling area. Messages are stored for a maximum of 72 hours.

Yes. Receiving a text message does not disrupt a call. You will receive a notice after your call.

Most phones play an alert and/or display an icon when a new message is received. To adjust the settings according to your needs, consult your phone's user guide.

Sending a text message abroad is the same as in Canada. The only difference is that the number must be preceded by the "+" symbol and the country code. For example, to send a text message to a friend in the UK, you must dial +44xxxxxxxxx.
