Questions and answers
- What is data transmission?
When you browse the Internet with your wireless phone you use what's called the data network, which is different from the voice network for making telephone calls.
The notion of time does not come into play with wireless Internet. Time spent surfing is not counted as minutes from your package. This being said, every time you download or upload data, there's a transfer of kilobytes. These will be billed to you based on the wireless Internet option you've selected, as applicable.
- What speed of data transmission can I get?
The data transmission speed is similar to a 56 k modem. This speed varies depending on the model of your phone, your geographical location, and network activity.
The transmission speed of EDGE devices is three times faster than normal GPRS devices.
- Can I receive a call when I'm surfing the Web?
Yes. Your Internet session will be paused during the length of the call. When you're finished, you can just pick up where you left off.
