What is phone number portability?
The name says it all: phone number portability consists in transferring your number from one provider to another. In other words, you can change providers without changing your number!

Portability is the same for all telephone numbers, whether they are landlines or wireless, within a same regional zone. You can even transfer your number from a landline to a wireless phone, and vice versa.
Questions and answers
- Can I transfer my number from one region to another?
- No, numbers cannot be transferred from one region to another. For example, a 514 number (Montreal region) cannot be transferred to the 418 zone (Quebec City and other regions). The move must be in the same local coverage zone.
- Will I need a new handset and package?
- You will need to choose a new handset and a new package with Videotron. We can help you find the handset and package that are right for you.
- I currently use a prepaid service. Can I transfer my number to Videotron?
- A wireless number for a prepaid service account can be transferred.
- Should I first cancel my service with my former supplier?
- No, your number needs to be active when we transfer it. As soon as you advise Videotron that you wish to transfer your number, we'll handle all of the details on your behalf. You will need to fulfil any contractual obligations you may have with your former supplier.
