The illico Explorer remote control can be programmed to operate the TV and VCR as described below:

Operating the TV

The Explorer terminal's remote control can control the power, volume and mute functions.
The remote control unit can be programmed directly for the TV and VCR without going through the list of codes (a method that can be long, incomplete or erroneous). We recommend the following procedure. It is reliable and guarantees a good result.

  • First, turn on the TV.
  • On the remote control, press the TV and SELECT buttons simultaneously and keep them pressed until the red indicator light at the top of the remote blinks twice.

Suggestion:

  • Press SELECT first, then press TV and hold these buttons down simultaneously.
  • Release the TV (26) and SELECT buttons, and enter code 991 directly on the remote control unit. After entering the code, you should again see the red indicator light blink twice.
  • Aim the remote control at the TV and press repeatedly on the TV button at least once a second until your TV turns off. You may have to press the button up to 20 times. Once the TV has turned off, it is important to immediately stop pressing the TV button.
  • Press SELECT. The red light will blink twice. This confirms that the code is programmed correctly in the remote control.

To check whether the remote control is programmed correctly, press the TV button. Your TV should turn on. If it does not, the procedure has failed and you will have to start over from the beginning. The main reasons for failure of the procedure are the following:

  • The TV and SELECT buttons were not pressed simultaneously long enough (wait until the red light blinks twice).
  • You pressed the TV button at least once after the TV turned off.

Operating the VCR

The procedure for programming the VCR is identical to the one for programming the TV; simply use the VCR button instead of the TV button:

  • First, turn on the VCR.
  • On the remote control, press the TV and SELECT buttons simultaneously and keep them pressed until the red indicator light at the top of the remote blinks twice.

Suggestion:

  • Press SELECT first, then press VCR and hold these buttons down simultaneously.
  • Release the VCR and SELECT buttons, and enter code 991 directly on the remote control unit. After entering the code, you should again see the red indicator light blink twice.
  • Aim the remote control at the VCR and press repeatedly on the VCR button at least once a second until your VCR turns off. You may have to press the button up to 20 times. Once the VCR has turned off, it is important to immediately stop pressing the VCR button.
  • Press SELECT. The red light will blink twice. This confirms that the code is programmed correctly in the remote control.

Note:
To check whether the remote control is programmed correctly, press the VCR button. Your VCR should turn on. If it does not, the procedure has failed and you will have to start over from the beginning.

Programming the volume

The Explorer terminal has a built-in volume control, making it possible to directly control the volume from the digital terminal. Of course, you can also control the volume directly from your TV. The Explorer remote control can alternate its control over the volume level of these two devices. To tell the remote control which device it is to control, do the following.

  • On the remote control, press the CBL and SELECT buttons simultaneously and keep them pressed until the red indicator light at the top of the remote blinks twice.

Suggestion:

  • First press SELECT and then press CBL, and hold these buttons down simultaneously.
  • Release both buttons and enter code 993 on the remote control. The small red indicator light should again blink twice.
  • Press the TV button to have the remote control unit control the volume of your TV or press CBL to have it control the volume of the Explorer terminal.

Note:
To control the TV volume with the Explorer remote, the remote control must first have been programmed to control the correct TV model, as indicated above.

Reprogramming the remote control unit

After a programming failure, the Explorer remote control may freeze, making any action impossible. The remote control unit must be re-initialized by resetting it.

  • Press the CBL and SELECT buttons simultaneously and keep them pressed until the red indicator light at the top of the remote blinks twice.

Suggestion:

  • First press SELECT and then press CBL, and hold these buttons down simultaneously.
  • Release both buttons and enter code 891. The remote control unit will be operational. However, you need to reprogram the remote control to make it compatible with your peripheral devices.
