Setup 5: Stereo TV and VCR (with recording in digital)

NOTE: This connection lets you view a channel or view or record a video in stereo. To enjoy stereo sound through your sound system, the TV and the VCR must both be turned on and the VIDÉO/AUDIO input of the TV must be selected. Press the INPUT SELECT, INPUT, AUX, AVX or TV/VIDEO button of the TV remote control. On some TV models, you will have to select one of the following channels: 00, 01, 91 or 99. (Some models include a switch with the indication MONITOR, A/V or AUX.)
When you select the VIDEO or LINE input on the TV, the stereo indicator light on the VCR does not switch on, but you nevertheless hear the stereo sound



    To view the channel or service of your choice

  • Press the VCR's CBL button to turn on the EXPLORER® 2000.
  • Turn on the TV and the VCR.
  • Select the VIDEO/AUDIO input on the TV by pressing the INPUT SELECT, INPUT, AUX, AVX or TV/VIDEO button of the TV remote control.
  • Select the LINE input on the VCR by pressing the LINE, AUX, AV or CAM button of the VCR, or by tuning to channel 00, 01, 91 or 99, depending on how the LINE/TUNER switch works on the VCR. (Refer to the VCR instruction manual)
  • Use the EXPLORER®remote control to tune to the channel or service of your choice. You can then listen to your programs in stereo either through your TV or through your stereo receiver/amp.


    To record the program you are viewing

  • Follow the instructions for the previous operation to view the channel of your choice.
  • Start recording by pressing the VCR's REC button.
  • Adjust the volume on the TV.


    To record a program while viewing another program in analog

  • Select the LINE input on the VCR by pressing the LINE, AUX, AV or CAM key of the VCR, or by tuning to channel 00, 0l, 91 or 99, depending on how the LINE/TUNER switch works on the VCR. (Refer to the VCR instruction manual.)
  • Use the EXPLORER®to tune to the channel you want to record.
  • Start recording by pressing the VCR's REC button.
  • Select the TV position on the VCR (TV / VCR button). An indicator light should switch off or on.
  • Select the TV mode (source) on the TV (TV/VIDEO).
  • Use the TV remote control to tune to the analog channel you want to view. (The stereo indicator light on your TV will come on.)


    Recording one or more programs while you are away

  • Set the EXPLORER®volume to maximum.
  • Press the SETTINGS button on the EXPLORER®2000 remote control twice.
  • Move the cursor to the TIMER VCR option and follow the instructions on the screen.

You can set the EXPLORER®2000 to record different channels at different times.
E.g.:
Channel 25 Tues. 26 - 08 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Channel 35 Tues. 26 - 08 from 1:30 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.

Use the VCR TIMER function on your VCR to start recording at the desired time. Use the example below to program the VCR TIMER function:
Channel A/Vm (LINE) Tues. 26 - 08 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Channel A/Vm (LINE) Tues. 26 - 08 from 1:30 a.m. to 3:00 a.m



    To view a video or a prerecorded program

  • Turn on the TV and the VCR.
  • Select the VIDEO/AUDIO input on the TV by pressing the INPUT SELECT, INPUT, AUX, AVX or TV/VIDEO button of the TV remote control.
  • Start playing the video (press the PLAY button).
  • Adjust the volume on the TV or stereo tuner, depending on the connection established.

Note: Your EXPLORER may differ from the model shown here, but the way to connect and use it is the same.



    To use the "PIP" image function

  • Turn on the TV and the VCR.
  • Select the VIDEO/AUDIO input on the TV by pressing the TV/VIDEO button of the TV remote control.
  • Select the LINE input on the VCR by pressing the LINE, AUX, AV or CAM button of the VCR, or by tuning to channel 00, 01, 91 or 99, depending on how the LINE/TUNER switch works on the VCR . (Refer to the VCR instruction manual.)The EXPLORER®picture will appear on the screen.
  • Select the TV position on the VCR (TV/VCR button). An indicator light must switch off or on.
  • Press the PIP button on your TV remote control. A second picture will then appear on the screen. Select the source (TV, VIDEO 1, VIDEO 2...) depending on whether you want to obtain the selected picture in digital or in analog in the second screen.
