Filters
A filter passes the cable signal for certain frequencies (channels) and cuts the signal for others. Installation of a filter may be necessary, depending on the services you request. For example, if you do not subscribe to the Télémax package, a filter cuts the signal beyond Channel 27). Attention! If you get no signal beyond Channel 13 (or 15), it is likely a CATV problem.
What is radiation?
Radiation occurs when the cable network is not leakproof. Remember that coaxial cable is a waveguide. If there is a leak, some of the waves are released into the atmosphere, which can cause interference with the signals used by other services or infrastructures (air traffic, for example). The CRTC is extremely strict about radiation and we have well-equipped crews that patrol the network looking for such leaks. More.
Is the sound in stereo on all channels?
The great majority of channels are in stereo. Unfortunately, a few channels are still broadcast in mono. We have no control over this. Channels broadcast in mono come directly to us in this format.
Are all programs closed-captioned?
Closed captions are sent at the same time as the program by the channel. This means that the closed-captioning service is at the discretion of the channel and/or program. Information affecting closed-captioning passes through "line 21," an invisible line on your TV screen (at the very bottom of your screen). To decode this line, your TV must have a built-in closed-caption decoder. The Videoway terminal also incorporates this function with the telematic option.
