Cable splitters
Your service cable may have been split with an RF splitter to feed other TV sets. If you, not Vidéotron, installed these additional outlets, remember that these connections are non-compliant and Vidéotron does not provide technical service on such outlets.

These splitters can be the cause of a variety of problems. Regardless of the technical problem you are experiencing, remove the splitter and ensure that the service cable (from outside) goes directly to the TV. If the problem disappears, then the splitter was most likely the cause.

Additional outlets
If, however, you have additional outlets that were installed by Vidéotron, they can help determine the cause of the problem. If the problem occurs on all your TV sets, it may be a general problem. You should contact our Technical support. If the problem only occurs on one outlet, then it is most likely a local problem. Our Technical Support will be able to help you.

Is your TV set the problem?
Although highly unlikely, your TV set may be causing the problem. There is a simple way to check this. If, after connecting another TV set to the same cable outlet you experience the same problem, then the cable is likely the problem. Conversely, if the problem disappears after you connect your second TV set, then the first TV is likely the culprit. The most common problems encountered with TVs involve colour. Also, if there is sound on all channels but the screen is black, then the problem may be related to the picture tube. If there is no sound but the picture is good, the problem may be in the audio tuner.
