Can I dial 911?

Yes. The 911 emergency service works the same way as with the traditional telephone network. Note that the 911 service monthly charges are included in the basic residential line rate. They are not additional, as with certain competitors.

Can I charge my calls to a 3rd-party number or receive calls charged to a 3rd-party number?

Yes. You can make and receive calls charged to a 3rd-party number. You have access to our operator service for assistance at all times (certain charges apply) for calls charged to a 3rd-party number. Note that, for this type of call, you can use the automated operator service by dialing 0, followed by the 10 digits of the number you are calling.

Can dial-around services starting with 101 be placed on the Vidéotron network?

Vidéotron lets long distance calls starting with 101 go through to their respective companies. However, some of these companies do not accept calls coming from Vidéotron yet.

I had another long distance provider. What happens with that subscription?

Once your telephone number has migrated to the Vidéotron network, Vidéotron automatically becomes your long-distance service provider. However, if you wish to keep your former provider, Vidéotron gives you the possibility of using other companies for long-distance service. Our billing system is fully capable of processing charges from other companies. It is important to note that not all companies accept calls from the Vidéotron network, and they do not notify us if they do. You must therefore check with your former provider to find out if calls from the Vidéotron network are accepted.

Does Vidéotron offer a Calling Card service?

Yes. As a Vidéotron telephone service subscriber, you will receive a Vidéotron Calling Card for your local and long distance calls when you are away from home in Canada or the United States.

I already subscribe to high-speed telephone Internet service (also called DSL, asymmetric digital subscriber line or ADSL) from another company. Can I also subscribe to Vidéotron cable telephone service?

Yes, you can. However, you must remember to mention this when ordering our cable telephone service. Important: Since the indoor telephone wiring in your home is already being used for your DSL high-speed Internet service, your connection will not include connecting any cable lines to the existing telephone jacks in your home. For the service to work, you must plug your telephone directly into the multipurpose cable modem we provide. If you want to plug in more telephones, you can request the installation of as many additional telephone jacks as you want. However, charges apply for each additional telephone jack installed.
