Is Vidéotron telephone
service reliable?
Vidéotron telephone service compares favourably
to that of other telephone service providers. For many years,
Vidéotron has been investing heavily in its network infrastructure
to continually increase the dependability of its network. We
are confident of attaining reliability on a par with traditional
telephone networks in the near future.
What distinguishes Vidéotron’s
network from the traditional telephone network?
Vidéotron’s access network consists
of coaxial cables, whereas the traditional telephone networks
use copper wire cables. The performance of coaxial cables greatly
surpasses that of copper wire cables: a coaxial cable can carry
the equivalent of 4,400 megabytes per second (mbps), i.e. 550
times the volume of data carried by a traditional copper wire
pair under optimal conditions (8 mbps).
Can interruptions of Vidéotron
telephone service occur?
Yes. This is normal. No network is infallible.
Many factors can affect coaxial cable network service (several
of which also affect the traditional telephone networks):
1- cable breakage
2- planned operations for necessary network maintenance
3- some power outages
4- network equipment breakdown
5- bad weather
Do I have to be a cable
