The Softphone is not like other software. It's a new and complete digital telephony solution with the following characteristics:

One number, always local
Your number follows you everywhere, from Montreal to Timbuktu. All you need is an Internet connection. Bring your computer and connect: you can send and receive local calls anywhere in the world.

Video phone
The person you are calling also has Softphone and a Webcam? Combine the useful with the pleasant and speak in motion.

Multiline tool
Conferences with up to four participants. You are on the phone with Julie as Martin calls to tell you to call Philippe, which you do, and switch from one to the other without hanging up and with high quality sound.

The Softphone offers all the features of residential telephony including call display, voice mail and call forwarding, with no additional fees. Click here to see the list of basic features and functions of the Softphone.
The long-distance services are the same as with cable telephone services with one difference: when you're outside your Softphone number zone (e.g. on a trip abroad) the calls placed or received in your zone are free.
For example, if your Softphone number is in the 514 area code you can make local calls in the Montreal area even if you are outside that area. The reverse is true also: a person residing in the Montreal area can call you anywhere in the world without incurring long-distance charges.
However, when you dial a regional code other than your own, long-distance charges apply in the same way as with cable telephone services.
If you wish to call outside you local call zone, you can add the Quebec Unlimited or any other long-distance plan to your Softphone.
An enhanced Web manager
The Personal Call Manager, included in the Softphone service, lets you effectively manage your calls and consult call details online. In other words, it lets you take control of your calls. You have access to the following functions - no matter where you are:

View the details of the last 100 calls made and received.

Multiple Ringing
Direct your incoming calls towards many phone numbers.

Call Forwarding
Transfer your calls to a number you can be reached.

Call Screening
Choose the numbers you wish to temporarily block.

Turn off the ringer and give yourself a little quiet time.

Mailbox Settings
Define the number of rings before voicemail answers the call.
