Guided Tour
This short video gives you an overview of the main screens and improvements made to illico on Demand.
Browsing
All of the illico browsing functions are accessible from your remote control. They also appear at the bottom of each illico screen. Here are the main functions:
- The arrow wheel is used to move from one selection to another within the same screen.
- The left arrow is used to return to the previous screen.
- The SELECT button is used to choose the currently highlighted selection.
- The B button takes you back to the illico On Demand home page.
- The EXIT button is used to return to regular television.
How to order a movie?
To order a movie, please follow these steps:
- 1. Position your remote control button in VOD mode.
- 2. Choose a category, a sub-category or a specific title, and press the "SELECT" button after each choice.
- 3. Move the arrows to highlight the ORDER button, then press "SELECT".
- 4. Enter your PIN, then press "SELECT" again. Please refer to the "Purchase: PIN" section for further information.
- 5. Select the CONFIRM button on the screen, or press the PLAY button on your remote control.
- 6. You can view the movie as many times as you like over a 24-hour period.
Cancelling a previously ordered movie
Please note that it will become impossible to cancel an order once you have selected the "Begin Viewing" button or once you have pressed the PLAY button on your remote control.
Purchase PIN
A PIN (Personal Identification Number) is required to order a video on demand movie or show. The default PIN on all illico terminals is "0000". It is important to customize this PIN as soon as possible in order to ensure that you have complete control over any orders made from your terminal.
How to change your purchase: PIN
- 1. Press the SETTINGS button on your illico remote control twice. The "General Settings" screen will be displayed.
- 2. On this screen, using the arrows, select the "Purchase: PIN" option, then press the "SELECT" button.
- 3. Press the "SELECT" button a second time when the "Change" option is highlighted.
- 4. Enter your current PIN.(If you've never changed it, the default PIN should still be "0000".)
- 5. Next, enter your new PIN. Enter it a second time to confirm your choice.
If you forget your PIN, it will no longer be possible to change it from your illico terminal. You will need to call Videotron's Technical Support department to reset the PIN number.
WARNING: The account holder is the only person authorized to make such a request.
"Adult movies - Torrid" section
The adult section contains programming exclusively for adults 18 and over. Erotic posters are displayed along with the movie descriptions.
NEW
The parental control PIN (Block PIN) is now required to access this content.
IMPORTANT
Your terminal has a default-blocking PIN (0000). We recommend changing this PIN. Please refer to the Block PIN - Parental Control section for more information.
For more security, we also recommend having a parental control PIN that is different from the order PIN.
CAUTION
If you forget your new PIN, you will be unable to change it from your illico terminal. You will have to call Videotron's Customer Technical Support and have it re-initialized. Only the person responsible for the account is authorized to request this.
Block PIN - Parental Control
Parental control allows you to block access to all of a channel's programming, or only to certain shows, depending on their rating or broadcast time. It is also required to access the explicit content of the "Adult movies - Torrid" section.
We recommend activating and changing the parental control Block PIN (personal identification number)..
Activating the Block PIN
- 1. Press the illico remote "SETTINGS" key twice. A menu called "General Settings" will pop up.
- 2. Using the arrows on the remote, select "Block: PIN" from the menu on the left and press "SELECT" once. When "Enable" is highlighted, press "SELECT" a second time.
- 3. Enter and confirm your new PIN.
- 4. Press the Exit button of the remote.
Changing the Block PIN
- 1. Press the illico remote "SETTINGS" key twice. A menu called "General Settings" will pop up.
- 2. Using the arrows on the remote control, select "Block: PIN" from the menu on the left and press "SELECT" once. When "Change" is highlighted, press "SELECT" a second time.
- 3. Enter your current PIN; if it has never been changed, the default PIN is 0000.
- 4. Enter and confirm your new PIN.
- 5. Press the Exit button of the remote.
Deactivating the Block PIN
- 1. Press the illico remote "SETTINGS" key twice. A menu called "General Settings" will pop up.
- 2. Using the arrows on the remote, select " Block: PIN " from the menu on the left and press "SELECT" once. When "Disable" is highlighted, press "SELECT".
- 3. Enter your current PIN.
- 4. Press the Exit button of the remote.
CAUTION
If you forget your new PIN, you will be unable to change it from your illico terminal. You will have to call Videotron's Customer Technical Support and have it re-initialized. Only the person responsible for the account is authorized to request this.
Block PIN - Program types (rating)
Parental control allows you to block access to the entire programming of some shows based on their rating. Attention: To block graphic adult content, you need to choose one of the following types: NR, Adult, R, TV-MA, All.
Follow these steps to block program types:
- 1. Press the remote "SETTINGS" button twice, and select "Block: Rating".
- 2. Enter your personal identification number (PIN).
- 3. Select the rating you want to block and press "SELECT". A padlock icon pops up (to deactivate it, press "SELECT" again).
- 4. Confirm your selection by pressing the yellow triangle with an "A" on your remote.
- 5. Press the "Exit" button of the remote.
Block PIN - Channels
Parental control allows you to block access to the entire programming of a particular channel. Just preselect the channel to program it. Attention: Activating the parental control is not enough - you need to select a channel for it to be blocked.
Follow these steps to block channels:
- 1. Press the remote "SETTINGS" button twice, and select "Block: Channels".
- 2. Enter your PIN.
- 3. Select the channel you want to block and press "SELECT". A padlock icon pops up (to deactivate it, press "SELECT" again).
- 4. Press the yellow triangle marked with an "A" on your remote to confirm your selection.
- 5. Press the "Exit" button of the remote.
Block PIN - Viewing Time
Parental control allows you to block access to a specific channel's entire programming, or only to certain shows, depending on their broadcast time. Attention: Activating the parental control is not enough - you need to select a viewing time for it to be effective.
Follow these steps to block viewing times:
- 1. Press the remote "SETTINGS" button twice, and select "Block: Time New".
- 2. Enter your PIN.
- 3. Select the day by pressing "SELECT"; select the start and stop times by pressing "SELECT".
- 4. Press the yellow triangle marked with an "A" on your remote to confirm your selection.
- 5. To delete blocked "hours", press the red button with a "C" on your remote.
- 6. Press the "Exit" button of the remote.
Viewing functions
You can view movies and other shows on illico on demand exactly as you would on a regular DVD player or VCR. The remote control displays the same symbols, and viewing is affected in the same manner. When you press one of the viewing control buttons on your remote control, a menu appears on screen to help you visualise what is happening. Here is a list of your remote control's functions:
PLAY: To play your selection. Restores normal viewing speed at any time.
PAUSE: To temporarily pause viewing.
STOP : Mettre fin au visionnement.
FFWD: To advance rapidly through your selection (twice the normal viewing speed).
REW: To rewind rapidly through your selection (twice the normal viewing speed).
Right and left arrows: To skip a few minutes of your selection.
After a 15-minute inactivity period, your selection will be automatically halted and the viewing screen will give way to regular TV. Your selection will remain available for the remainder of your original 24-hour rental period.
Resume viewing
This button displays the titles ordered and the time remaining on the rental.
It also allows you to resume viewing within the remaining time period.
Select the "Resume viewing" option, then press "SELECT."
Select a title and once again press "SELECT."
Note that you can now restrict access to titles ordered by activating the parental control PIN. To do this, you must have blocked the following types beforehand: NR, Adult, R, TV-MA, All.
Error messages
As you use your illico terminal, you may encounter some error messages. Here are the relevant explanations, as well as the recommended course of action.
--- There was a problem processing your order. Please contact Customer Service at
1-877-380-2611, so we can deliver your order.---
This message may display during the first day of use of your terminal. It means that the activation of your terminal is not yet complete. Activation should be finalized within a maximum 12-hour delay.
--- Other error codes on screen ---
If you obtain an error message when attempting to order a movie, please power OFF your illico terminal for a few seconds, then turn it back and make another attempt to order by accessing channel 900.
If this doesn't solve the problem, please disconnect your illico terminal from the electrical outlet for about 10 seconds, then reconnect it. When the time appears on the front of the terminal, turn it on and try re-acceding.
If the problem persists, please contact Vidéotron's Technical Support and note the entire error message on the screen.
--- PLAY button does not work ---
If you've ordered an illico on demand movie and your terminal is frozen on the page where you are asked to press the "PLAY" button to begin viewing, please ensure that your remote control is in VOD mode (and not VCR mode). If necessary, please refer to the instruction manual for more details.
If the terminal still does not respond, please disconnect your illico terminal from the electrical outlet for about 10 seconds, then reconnect it. If the problem persists, please contact Vidéotron's Technical Support .
--- Your movie does not appear in the "Resume viewing" section ---
Following a reset of your illico terminal, it is possible that your movie rental may have disappeared from the "Resume Viewing" section, even though your 24-hour rental period is not yet over.
In this case (and only if you are within the original 24-hour viewing period), you can re-order the same movie via the usual illico on demand menu. The movie will not be billed twice.
"My selections" section
You can create a list of selections that you want to see, but are not ready to watch right away. You can access these titles at a more convenient time. It's a great way to keep track of programming you want to see.
To add a title to your list, click "Add to my selection" on the status screen.

All members of your household can consult the adult content in this section.
The "My selections" section is accessible via the illico on Demand home page.
