How to use photo and video messaging?

Photo and video messaging lets you send multimedia files to a contact’s mobile phone or email address.

How can I send a photo or video message?

You can send or receive an unlimited number of photos or videos per message with your mobile phone. Typing text on-screen and sending the message varies based on the type of device you have. For instructions on how to do this, please refer to your phone’s user guide.

Your mobile phone notifies you with a sound alert or by displaying a symbol or message on the screen when you’ve received a new photo or video message. All you have to do is open it and the files will be downloaded automatically if your phone allows it.

Good to know

Depending on the device you’re using, you can configure your settings to get a notification when messages have been read or received.

Is there a limit to the size of photos or videos I can send or receive?

There are size limits when sending or receiving photos and videos on your phone. The limit authorized by Videotron’s network is 3 MB. Files that exceed this limit cannot be sent.

For an iPhone, the limit authorized for sending and receiving a photo or video is 2 MB.

Can I send photo and video messages to a contact living abroad?

Yes, you can send or receive photo and video messages to a foreign contact. The process is the same as sending a message within Canada. The contact’s phone number must simply be preceded by the “+” symbol and country code. For example, to send a photo or video message to a contact in France, type +33 and your contact’s phone number.

Can I send photo and video messages if I’m abroad?

Wherever you are in the world, you can continue to send photo or video messages. However, the zone must be served by a mobile communications provider that has a roaming agreement with Videotron Business.

Roaming charges may apply, and sending these messages from outside Quebec uses up mobile data.

Good to know

If you receive messages when you’re outside the coverage zone or your mobile phone is turned off, your messages will be stored for seven days. They will be sent to you as soon as your mobile phone is able to receive them.
