Harassing calls

If you receive harassing calls that make you fear for your safety, here’s what you can do:

  1. Note the date and time of the calls, as well as the telephone numbers displayed. If you don’t have Call Display, dial *69 to get the last caller’s number.
  2. If no number is displayed or no information is provided with *69 and it is severe harassment, use *57 Call Trace.
  3. Visit your nearest police station to file a complaint.
  4. If the police are unresponsive or uncooperative, contact Technical Support to initiate an investigation to put an end to these calls.

Important : In certain circumstances, you can change your telephone number at no additional charges.

Calls from telemarketers

If you repeatedly receive telemarketing calls, here’s what you can do to reduce them:

  1. Register with the National Do Not Call List (DNCL) to stop receiving calls from most telemarketing companies.
  2. Register to the Videotron Do-not-call List to avoid receiving calls from Videotron or to exclude yourself from one of our communication methods. Manage your communication preferences in the Customer Centre.
  3. Note the date and time of the calls, as well as the phone numbers that are displayed. If you don’t have Call Display, dial *69 to get the last caller’s number.
  4. If the problem persists, contact Technical Support, as needed.

If you have a fax machine and Call Display, you can send a fax asking the caller (sender) to stop calling you.

Frequent fax calls

To stop receiving repeated calls from a fax machine, you can do the following:

If you have a fax machine and Call Display

  1. Send a fax asking the caller (sender) to stop sending faxes to your number.

If you don’t have Call Display or the number doesn’t appear

  1. After receiving an unwanted call, pick up the phone and dial *57 to trace the number.
  2. Note the date and time.
  3. Contact Technical Support to have a request completed in order to put an end to these calls.

There is no need to contact the police for this type of problem.
