An enlightening movie full of charm
The 1980s, Quebec. Her name is Hélène, but she calls herself Jo because she wants to be like Joséphine La Petite Mousquetaire, her favourite cartoon hero. Jo is only ten years old and has three sisters, a father who is very busy being unhappy and a mother who understands, but is strict. She lives in a working-class neighbourhood full of colourful characters, and the most endearing of them all is her new neighbour, Mr. Roger, a gruff old man who hides a tender heart. With her romantic soul and an imagination eager for plenty of drama, Jo would also like to achieve great things. One day, she makes it her mission to save her father from work and misery.
Blue Sky Jo is a dramatic comedy directed by Patrice Sauvé, based on the novel by Marie-Renée Lavoie.
