Videotron and CIEL join forces for a healthy and responsible digital future
At Videotron, we care deeply about digital balance in families. That’s why we’re proud to be working with the Centre pour l’intelligence émotionnelle en ligne to raise awareness among parents and children of the effects of digital technology on young people’s mental, physical and social health.
Through content that is accessible, engaging and rooted in research, we aim to support families in adopting enlightened digital practices. As a digital player, we are committed to assuming our social responsibility by offering concrete advice and solutions adapted to the issues related to the use of our products.
Emmanuelle Parent’s CIEL
Co-founded by researcher Emmanuelle Parent, the Centre pour l’intelligence émotionnelle en ligne has set itself the mission of opening up a conversation on digital issues related to well-being. To this end, CIEL is actively involved in:
- Promoting healthy habits and harm prevention with its digital wellness workshops for elementary and high school students
- Raising awareness of the challenges of the digital environment through conferences and scientific popularization on its platforms
- Consulting with various organizations on digital issues

Who is it for?
All family members who own a phone, including both parents and teenagers, can answer it to help kick off the conversation about the role phones play in our lives and realize that we may have more in common than we think!
Objectives
- Learn more about what the other person is doing on their cell phone
- Discover settings for implementing privacy and security strategies
- Explore other ways to spend time with family or how to simply take a break from screens
*The Digital Compass is not a substitute for proper screen rules within the home.
How to use it?
As a family, take out your cell phones and go through the questions, one by one. To encourage an open and engaging discussion, you should:
- Adopt a posture of listening and openness - Welcome the other person’s experience by avoiding judgments, generalizations, and preconceived ideas.
- Be curious - Ask questions, download the same app, share videos, try each other’s games.
- Be a role model, parents - Lead by example and help the family get involved in different activities.
