What is Apple TV?
Apple TV is a box with software that can stream entertainment content from a variety of platforms, including the Videotron Helix TV app.
Required equipment
To use the Helix TV app through Apple TV, you must have:
- A subscription to a Helix Internet and TV plan or a Helix Internet and TV App plan
- An Apple ID
- An Apple TV device with tvOS 15 or later
Adding the Helix TV app on Apple TV
- Go to App Store on the Apple TV.
- From the main menu, go to the Search section (magnifying glass icon), then enter “Helix” to find the Helix TV app. You can also dictate your search using Siri.
- Select the Helix TV app and start the download.
- Once the download is complete, launch the app. A pairing window appears onscreen upon first use.
- Select Sign in, then scan the QR code displayed onscreen using your mobile or go to https://code-helix.videotron.com on your PC or your mobile device.
- Enter the six-digit code that appears on the screen to pair your Helix TV app to your device.
- Log in using your My Account or Customer Centre credentials.
Using the Helix TV app on Apple TV
The Helix TV app interface on Apple TV devices is very similar to the one you see on your other tablet-style mobile devices, with your content menu on the left.
Use your Siri remote to navigate, using the clickpad arrows and the Back (<) button. Select an item by clicking the center of the clickpad. The Helix TV app doesn’t support voice command on this remote.
You will get access to the entire Helix TV content catalogue, including Vrai and Club illico (or illico+), and most of the app’s features can be used, such as programming and viewing recordings, accessibility options, Parental Control, etc.
How to use the Helix TV app features
Features not available with Apple TV
- You can’t order and watch pay-per-view content (e.g. Indigo channels)
- You can’t order On Demand content, but you can resume viewing On Demand content that was previously ordered through the Helix TV terminal
- You can’t use the Download to go feature to download recorded or On Demand content
- illico TV subscribers can use the Helix TV app on an Apple TV device. However, they cannot use the recording functions
