How to manage your email account on your mobile phone

Adding an email account

Follow the appropriate procedure to add an email account to your iPhone’s Mail app or Android device’s Gmail app.

iPhone – Mail

1. In Settings, select Apps > Mail, then Mail Accounts.
2. Tap Add Account.
3. Enter your email address, then tap Next.
4. Enter your name and password, then tap Next.
5. Check that the Mail switch is enabled and tap Save.

Android – Gmail

1. Launch the Gmail app and open the top left menu.
2. Select Settings from the bottom of the menu, then tap Add account, followed by Other.
3. Enter your email address, then tap Next.
4. Enter your password, then tap Next.
5. If necessary, edit the synchronization options, then tap Next.
6. Enter an account and client name, then tap Next.

Editing an email account

Follow the appropriate procedure to make changes to an email account on your iPhone’s Mail app or Android phone’s Gmail app.

Recommended settings for incoming and outgoing mail servers:

Incoming mail server: imap.videotron.ca
Port: 993
Authentication: Yes (SSL/TLS)

Outgoing mail server: smtp.videotron.ca
Port: 465
Authentication: Yes (SSL/TLS)

iPhone – Mail

1. In Settings, select Apps > Mail, then Account.
2. Tap the account you want to edit and then the email address to view incoming mail server settings.
3. Edit settings as required.
4. Tap SMTP to view outgoing mail server settings.
5. Tap the outgoing mail server and edit settings as required.
6. Tap Done.

Android – Gmail

1. Launch the Gmail app and open the top left menu.
2. Tap Settings at the bottom of the menu, then tap the email address to be edited.
3. Tap Incoming Server Settings to edit IMAP settings.
4. Tap Outgoing Server Settings to edit SMTP settings.
5. Tap Done to save changes.

Deleting an email account

Follow the appropriate procedure to make changes to an email account on your iPhone’s Mail app or Android phone’s Gmail app.

iPhone – Mail

1. In Settings, select Apps > Mail, then Account.
2. Tap the account to delete and tap Delete account.
3. Confirm the deletion.

1. Launch the Gmail app and open the top left menu.
2. Tap Settings at the bottom of the menu, then open the top right menu.
3. Tap Manage accounts on this device.
4. Tap the email address to delete, then tap Remove account.
