How to use Parental Control on your TV with illico

Parental Control, your TV management ally

Parental Control allows you to configure the use of your TV, in particular by:

  • Setting a schedule for when TV can be used
  • Locking specific content
  • Setting PINs to prevent the purchase of On Demand content

Parental Control must be configured on each terminal for which you want to restrict accessible TV content.

Enabling and disabling Parental Control

On illico TV New Generation

This operation requires you to enter your Admin PIN. If you don’t have a PIN, a window will pop up asking you to create one.

  1. Press the yellow triangle A button on your remote to display the Settings and applications menu.
  2. Select Settings, then Controls and limits. Enter your PIN in the window that appears on the screen.
  3. Select Modify controls and limits to enable or disable Parental Control and identify content that should be filtered (8+, 13+, 16+, 18+). You can also choose to only hide adult content (pornographic material).

You can also reach the Controls and limits menu by pressing the green diamond D button in the Program Guide.
  1. Press the Settings button on your remote.
  2. Go to the option Turn ON Parental Control.
  3. Press the Select button.

When Parental Control is activated (padlock closed), the option is called Turn OFF Parental Control.

Change Admin PIN

Warning: If you’ve forgotten your Admin PIN, you won’t be able to change it from your terminal. Contact Technical Support to reset your password.

On illico TV New Generation

The Admin PIN allows you to order illico content, modify your services and access Parental Control options. Here’s how to change it:

  1. Press the yellow triangle A button on your remote to display the Settings and applications menu.
  2. Select Settings, then Controls and limits.
  3. Enter your PIN in the window that appears on the screen, then select Modify your Admin PIN.
  4. Enter your current PIN, then choose a new PIN.
  5. Confirm your PIN, then select OK.

  3. Press Select a second time when the Change option is highlighted.
  4. Enter your current PIN (if you’ve never changed it, the default PIN is 0000).

Change Order PIN

On illico TV New Generation

The Order PIN is a second PIN that can be shared with your family members. This allows them to order content while you keep your Admin PIN confidential.

  1. Press the yellow triangle A button on your remote to display the Settings and applications menu.
  2. Select Settings, then Controls and limits.
  3. Enter your PIN in the window that appears on the screen, then select Modify Order PIN.
  4. Enter a new PIN, confirm it, and select OK.

A PIN is required to order a Video On Demand movie or show. The default PIN on all terminals is 0000. It is important to personalize this PIN as soon as possible to ensure you have complete control over any orders made from your terminal. To change your purchase PIN:

  1. Press the Settings button twice on your remote to access the General Settings menu.
  2. Using the arrows, select the Purchase: PIN option on the screen, then press Select.
  3. Press Select a second time when the Change option is highlighted.
  4. Enter your current PIN (if you’ve never changed it, the default PIN should still be 0000).
  5. Next, enter your new PIN. Enter it a second time to confirm your choice.

  2. Select Suspend controls and limits in the menu.
  1. Select the channel for which you’d like to restrict access and press the green diamond D button on your remote control.
  2. Select Add to blocked channels.

On illico TV New Generation

  1. Press the yellow triangle A button on your remote to display the Settings and applications menu.
  2. Select Settings, then Controls and limits.
  3. Enter your PIN in the window that appears on the screen.
  4. Select Modify controls and limits, then enable controls and limits, if needed.
  5. Go to Blocked channels, then select the channels you want to block from the column on the left.

On illico TV First Generation

  1. Press the Settings button on your remote to access the General Settings menu.
  2. Using the arrows, select the Block: Channels option.
  3. Highlight a channel, then press Select to add or delete it from the list.
   

While watching a channel, you can quickly add it to blocked channels by pressing the Settings button on your remote and selecting the Block this channel option. If the current channel is in the blocked channel list, the option is Unblock this Channel.

How to enable and disable Parental Control with illico TV

Yes. When Parental Control is activated, you can still order restricted content by entering the administrator PIN (or Parental Control PIN). Entering the order PIN only allows access to content permitted by Parental Control.

With illico, you can restrict TV access at a specific time

On illico TV New Generation

  1. Press the yellow triangle A button on your remote to display the Settings and applications menu.
  2. Select Settings, then Controls and limits.
  3. Select Modify controls and limits, then enable controls and limits, if needed.
  4. Go to Time-Based Restrictions, then select restricted hours.

On illico TV First Generation

  1. Press the Settings button twice on your remote to access the General settings menu.
  2. Using the arrows, position the cursor over the desired block. To restrict TV access at a specific time, select Block: Time New.
  3. Select a choice and press Select to configure.
  4. Press the A button on the remote to accept the changes.
